History

Chateau Mignon represents high-quality building of the 19th century officially signed in the listed buildings of Slovak Republic.
This mansion was built in the first half of 19th century, in 1835-1845, as a little house for gardeners looking after neighboring park. The original owners were Illéshazy’s family with large properties not only in Slovakia but also in Moravia.
Despite of their richness, they supported spiritual and economic development of Dubnica nad Váhom. Mária Terézia and other important European governors visited Illéshazy and worked in Dubnica nad Váhom.
In 1835 Juraj Sin, the Viennese financier, bought the whole settlement with grange and park. By the end of the 19th century, there were several renovations and reconstructions but the most distinctive were in 1959 and 1970 by overlapping of beams and replacement of windows and frames. Radical diversions in 1990 totally changed the mansion into hotel Astória. From the 1990s, it started to decline rapidly. In 2006, after complete reconstruction according to original documentation, the castle ended in the hands of new owners and was called Chateau Mignon.
